Hi Sugar :)

We have outgrown our hotel, which has 70 rooms available on some days, so half of us have had to stay at another hotel for several years. Rates have gone up at least twice since our fall party, the restaurant has been closed for close to four years. Despite what politicians do, people do not see the LGBTQIA+ community as they once did, and we now have options, so it is time for us to grow beyond the confines of District Hotel OKC, formerly the Habana Inn.

I think at the end it's about the amenities the new place can provide us today, being able to grow our events, reaching and helping as many of our transgender and nonbinary sibilings as possible, and being thankful that the District could do what it could do for us all until now. We are definitely in a period of growth and the need to have our community able to meet together safely in one location.

The board met and had a lot of long, serious, and heartfelt discussions, culminating in a vote on how to best handle the situation. This is not something we have taken lightly or a decision we have made hastily, but it is one which is prudent. We are now having our events at a different LGBTQIA+ friendly hotel, the Best Western Plus Saddleback Inn and Conference Center. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, pool, whirlpool, spa, ample meeting space and ample parking space, is off the main roads, and has full room amenities

We have been watching our events approach this decision for a very long time, and have been doing a soft search for a new home for years. We feel that this new venue provides us with the amenities our group deserves, and is a place where we feel we can grow while maintaining the sense of family we have always maintained. A place we can all proudly call a new home, and one which we can be proud to bring our friends to in the future.
